Extend: They clean up messy documents. We cleaned up their floor plan.
A smarter space for a smarter platform
🚧 The Challenge
After launching in San Francisco, Extend found a home in New York and started their climb in a Flatiron WeWork. For a company building high-precision, LLM-powered document intelligence tools, attracting top engineering talent meant more than just location. The space had to signal quality, clarity, and intentionality, something that would draw the team in three or more days a week. The office needed to function, but more importantly, it needed to inspire.
After significant frustrations with a previous broker, being set back months, and pushed to maintain occupancy in a coworking space that wouldn’t sustain their growth, there was significant pressure to perform on their requirements. As a team with such passion for their craft, it only felt right to commit that same passion for their office search. Extend spends 7-days a week in their office, their office would be the foundation for their company and employee success.
đź’ˇ The Solution
With a tight focus on NoMad, Flatiron, and Union Square, we zeroed in on high-end, thoughtfully designed spaces. Amenities were secondary to flow, layout, and natural light, but remained a priority where possible.
Our search spanned premium subleases and off-market opportunities. Landlords like Justin Management and Kaufman Organizations stood out among the haze as owner / operators committed to offering the best tenant experience across assets. From fully furnished newly built offerings to above standard wet-pantries and rooftop amenities, there were only a few ownership groups committed to aligning with Extend.
Ultimately The Haymarket Building became a priority, it offered a space that struck the right balance of character, functionality, and creative energy. It gave Extend a blank canvas with a sleek white-box finish, a beautiful wet-pantry iconic to the Kaufman brand, a beautiful shared rooftop, and the bones to build exactly what they needed.

🛠️ The Results
After numerous tours, comfortably cruising through NYC in a black escalade, the Haymarket building offered the perfect opportunity. While the initial goal was for a fully built space, 135 West 29th Street checked so many boxes that building out their space felt like a seamless process. Working closely with our construction and design team alongside the building’s hands-on management, we went from white-box to fully built (HVAC and all!) in just 5-weeks. With access to a shared rooftop and a space designed to offer the same efficiency as their platform, their Series A ($17m following their move-in) is just the beginning of a revolutionary company making their mark on Unicorn Lane.
“Thanks so much for your help throughout all of this—you’ve been incredible to work with. Very glad we got connected!”
